Wally Niles is greeted by his Northern Air Cargo team in Anchorage

Anchorage, AK – September, 2019 – On September 10th, Northern Air Cargo (NAC), celebrated the retirement and last flight of pilot, Wally Niles, with a special water cannon salute by the Anchorage airport fire department. As a ceremonial event in aviation, water salutes can be used to honor the retirement of senior pilots. For Niles, his last flight on the Boeing 737-300 from King Salmon comes only a few days before his 65th birthday. FAA regulates pilot retirement at 65.

Niles began work at NAC in March of 1980 and flew the likes of the DC-6, Boeing 727, Boeing 737 and the Fairchild “Flying Boxcar“. For almost 40 years, he has shown incredible dedication to NAC. While NAC is sad to say goodbye, we hope to keep Niles around in our pilot training programs. Thank you and Happy Birthday, Wally!
